Winter Gifts For Raynaud’s: Turn On And Warm Up Fingers and Toes

Raynaud’s syndrome is serious business when you love winter in northern Manitoba, Canada.  Winter warm up tips like hot drinks, exercise, no caffeine, certain herbs, dressing in layers — don’t provide enough help. Raynaud’s can be an outside show stopper. This is what happens.

Outside in the Freezing Cold: The Blood Vessels In Our Fingers and Toes Slam Shut

Raynaud’s makes our bodies over react to the cold.  Blood vessels in our fingers and toes go into spasm and slam shut. No blood gets to our fingers and toes. Our digits  turn white, numb, and often blue. Our fingers and toes radiate with sharp nerve pain.

No wonder we want to stay inside. We need powerful solutions to get outside and play. Enter the new battery heated outside technology — made for Raynaud’s. Skiers, hunters, late season fishermen, golfers, and outside workers seem to know about them too.

Battery Heated Mitts, Gloves, and Socks To The Rescue.

Imagine this: soft, adjustable heating pads swaddling  your fingers and toes. That is what battery heated gloves, mitts, and socks feel like. I don’t want to go overboard, but I do want you to know that having my toes and fingers cradled in warmth all day, is pure heaven. Simply turn on and warm up.

Now I want to go outside. I love looking and feeling like a Power Ranger with these lit up mitts and gloves.  I love feeling invincible. I love being safe  from the icy cold. I love this up side to my chronic disease.

People Who See Them, Want Them

And every time I am outside curling, cross country skiing, walking — people are  drawn to the lights on the mitts and gloves. At first they think they might be safety lights (and they are that too) but when they learn they are heated they become really interested. “Where did you get those?” is always the first question. Their hands and feet are probably cold too.

Turn On And Warm Up

All you need to do is plug in your rechargeable batteries. Then attach the batteries to the little cords inside the mitt or glove pocket. Press the button and hold for a few seconds. Turn on and warm up.

The radiant heat on your fingers and toes will last from 6-10 hours. You can press the button to turn them off if your hands and feet are warm enough.

I am working my way through all the rechargeable battery heated mitts, gloves, and socks  on Amazon. Below I have the Canadian and American links to the ones that I have used and recommend. As far as I can tell they are all made in China. For this reason they give long shipping times. But they do arrive in around two weeks from the order date. As you know, mitts are warmer than gloves because the fingers have each other close by to keep each other warm. I have these and love them. The insides are soft – like a bed for sore fingers.

These are so soft and warm — probably the warmest option.

These were my first purchase and they still look like new.

I just ordered these for more fancy occasions. I don’t think they will provide as much warmth as the two above. They look nice – sleek.

I am trying these and will give you more feedback in a week. They heat up quickly in the house.I will see if they are warm enough outside.

I have also ordered these ones and will let you know.

I got these last year and they are amazing. I love them.

Think of These As Medical Assistive Devices

When the cold northern boreal winds swirl around my windows, I know that I can go outside. I know that the batteries will keep me warm and outside longer in the cold.

I think of these mitts, gloves and socks as medical assistive devices (instead of medication) to get me outside and help me to stay outside longer. You can too.

Let’s go outside to feel happier and healthier — knowing that the research says, that there is no doubt we are happier and healthier outside.

Healthy Tree, Healthy Me.

    • Thank you Lisa for taking the time to comment. We are in the same stratasphere. We know each others trees. Yes Raynaud’s is brutal but manageable with lots of heating devices.
